Adam Stettner, Founder & CEO

Adam has 30 years of business, strategy and leadership experience in both Private and Public Companies. In 2021, Adam believed the timing and opportunity was right for him to bring his passion for business, innovative financing and entrepreneurial spirit to the Cannabis sector by creating funding products for all areas of this early stage, growth industry by founding FundCanna. FundCanna provides short term funding to all areas of the sector; cultivators, manufacturers, vendors, suppliers, distributors and retailers. In just its first year, FundCanna has underwritten roughly 500 files and funded approximately 250 unique files bringing much needed liquidity and financing solutions to the legal Cannabis industry.

Prior to founding FundCanna, Adam Stettner was the Founder and CEO of Reliant Funding for 14 years. Reliant Funding provides access to capital for small and medium sized businesses nationwide.  In 2015 Adam led the recapitalization of the initial Reliant investors providing them a return north of 900% by bringing on a Global Private Equity firm as his partner. In the 6 years that followed, Adam continued to grow the business delivering over 250% top line growth and roughly a 600% increase in net profit.

 

Reliant successfully navigated the pandemic, emerging with lower losses, greater margins, originations in line with those prior to Covid19 and record setting profits without receiving any PPP or government assistance or breaching any of their bank/credit facility covenants.

Under Adam, Reliant funded $3 Billion on its balance sheet to roughly 100,000 small businesses and grew to employ over 200 people on both coasts. Reliant profitably generated recurring annual revenue exceeding $80MM while maintaining predictable loss rates within forecast.  Adam worked with regional banks, private equity and alternative investment funds to structure the company and credit facilities that made Reliant Funding one of the largest non-bank funding sources for American small business at the time of his departure.

 

Prior to Reliant Funding Adam Stettner worked as a senior executive at publicly traded companies including Student Loan Xpress, a division of CIT, a Fortune 500 NYSE company. There Adam created and managed a division that produced over $8 Billion in on balance sheet student loan originations and was involved in $14 Billion of Asset Backed Securitizations. The team worked with large banks like Citibank, Fifth Third and Deutsche Bank to facilitate their lending and revolving lines.

 

Additionally, he held a senior executive position at McNaughton Apparel (Jones NY) where he oversaw sales and distribution and sat on a top performing desk at a boutique Wall Street firm as a Proprietary Trader holding Series 7, 55 and 63 licenses.

 

Among other recognition, Adam won the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2019 and was a North American finalist, finishing in the top three for his category on the Continent. He has been awarded Most Admired CEO by San Diego Business Journal 4 times and the same publication has named him one of San Diego’s Most Influential Business Leaders each year since the list was conceived.  He is a Forbes Finance Council member, where his thoughts on leadership have been published within Forbes.  In addition, he has been featured in national magazines, online, in podcasts and on radio shows pertaining to finance, small business, entrepreneurship and leadership.

 

Adam received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he is currently an advisor and mentor to the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship, and studied finance at Columbia Business School, Executive Education Program in New York City.
